14th ModTech International Conference
Slanic Moldova, Romania, May 20–22, 2010

 

 

The 14th ModTech International Conference was held in Slanic Moldova, a small town and tourist resort in Romania, on May 20–22, 2010. The Conference was organized by “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University of Iasi, Romania, Technical University of Moldova in Chisinau, and the Institute of Technical Sciences of SASA, accepted as the third organizer beginning with the conference of 2010. The Organizing Committee was presided by Prof. Nedelcu Dumitru of the “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University of Iasi, whereas Prof. Laurentiu Slatineanu of the Technical University of Iasi, Prof. Sergiu Mazuru of the Technical University of Moldova and Dr. Olivera Milošević, principal research fellow of the Institute of Technical Sciences of SASA, Belgrade, were the conference chairpersons. Each of them gave a welcoming speech at the opening ceremony.

The conference was attended by 105 participants from six countries. It featured presentations dealing with micro- and nanotechnologies, manufacturing, automation and flexible technologies, CAD/CAM/CAE/CAX systems, materials, processes and innovation technologies, project and system quality management, casting and non-conventional technologies, as well as shaping and compaction technologies. Once the peer review process is completed, the conference papers will be published in the Proceedings of the 14th ModTech International Conference (ISSN 2066-3919).

The proceedings of the previous conference, ModTech 2009, has been indexed by the Conference Proceedings Citation Index – Science within the Web of Knowledge and the INSPEC database.

 

 

The author of this report gave an oral presentation titled Nanostructured luminescence particles synthesized through aerosol route at intermediate temperature, authored by V. Lojpur, K. Marinković, L. Mančić, M.E. Rabanal, L.S. Gomez, J.M. Torralba and O. Milošević, within the session Micro- and nanotechnologies. It aroused significant interest and Vesna Lojpur, as its first author and young researcher, won the first prize for scientific contribution. Dr. Olivera Milošević was honoured with a Diploma of Excellence for her contribution to the quality of the conference.

According to the decision of the Organizing Committee, the next ModTech conference will be held in Moldova in 2011. The Institute of Technical Sciences of SASA was offered to organize the 16th ModTech Conference, to be held in 2012, in Belgrade.
