The ITS SASA delegation visited the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IITR) as part of a bilateral cooperation project entitled Machine-learning based PV power forecast and grid support solutions for PV integration in diverse climatic zones across Serbia and India.
The International Relations Office at IIT Roorkee hosted a delegation from the Institute of Technical Sciences of SASA (Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts), Belgrade, Serbia. The delegation comprised Dr. Miloš Tomić (Director), Dr. Lidija Mancic (Deputy Director), and Dr. Ilija Batas Bjelic (Research Associate).
During the visit, a workshop was held on remote reading of insolation sensors using a gateway (DG100), on which the operating system (machina.io) is executed and stored on a remote server that can be accessed remotely using the infrastructure developed by the Institute of Technical Sciences of SASA. The workshop was held by Dr. Miloš Tomić, Principal Research Fellow) and Dr. Ilija Batas-Bjelić, Research Associate, with great interest from the students of the Department of Hydro and Renewable Energy.
To explore new opportunities for cooperation, the leader of the research group Optically Active and Semiconductor Nanostructured Materials at the Institute of Technical Sciences of SASA, visited the laboratory within the department, where she was informed by Dr. Mohammad Saquib about the activities, especially the results in the development of a cylindrical fuel cell.
The workshop on the development of master courses for new and innovative applications of photovoltaic technologies: Agri PV, Building Integrated PV and Floating PV technologies (Development of Masters Elective Courses on New and Innovative Solar Applications) was held by the aforementioned department in cooperation with the German development agency GiZ and the consulting company Ernst Young in New Delhi.
A significant highlight of their visit was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions, marking the beginning of a promising partnership to advance global academic and research initiatives. The MoU was signed by Prof. Kamal Pant, Director, IITR, Prof. Vimal Chandra Srivastava, Dean of International Relations, IIT Roorkee, Dr. Miloš Tomić (Director, SASA), and Dr. Lidija Mančić (Deputy Director, ITS SASA).

Prof. K.K. Pant and Dr. Miloš Tomić expressed their content at the addition of this new chapter in the partnership of IITR and the Institute of Technical Sciences of SASA, especially as regards the mitigation of climate change through energy transition and circular economy (recycling) and gradual mitigation of disasters caused by climate change, i.e. draughts, flood recovery through agriculture, as a national asset of high importance for both parties. They also highlighted empowering women participation in engineering and science and application of artificial intelligence, machine learning, advanced sensors, and the optimization of land/water/energy/fertilizer use for yield management.
