Dr. Ilija Batas-Bjelić, a research associate at the Institute of Technical Sciences of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (ITN SANU), participated in the Fifth International Forum on Long-Term Energy Scenarios for the Clean Energy Transition (9-11 September 2024), organized by IRENA (International Renewable Energy Agency, IRENA Innovation and Technology Centre).
IRENA founded in 2009 in Bonn at the initiative of the European Union and its founding member states, including the Republic of Serbia, aims to promote renewable energy sources.
The forum featured eight thematic sessions, in addition to the opening and closing sessions. Key topics included investment, energy policy communication skills, aligning energy and climate plans, internal and external institutional capacities, uncertainty modeling, lifestyle impacts, socio-economic and security aspects, the potential application of the LEAP tool, hydrogen utilization, and other critical issues for developing sustainable energy scenarios with a high share of renewable energy sources.
